Pui Ching Middle School, a partner school of the “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, achieved a remarkable achievement in the “Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI) 2021/22” and won twelve medals comprising five Gold, five Silver and two Bronze medals (with photos)
Twelve students (ten of them are Enriched IT Class students) from Pui Ching Middle School won five Gold, five Silver and two Bronze medals in the Junior and Senior groups of the “Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI) 2021/22” held from 13 November to 18 December 2021. In addition, the school was also crowned Champion in the Grand School Prize.

About the Competition
Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI) is a software programming competition for secondary students in Hong Kong, emphasising on problem solving techniques and programming skills. It aims to enhance students' interest in software programming. The competition is organised by the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education, Education Bureau, and co-organised by Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The competition is divided into two groups, namely the Junior Group and the Senior Group. A secondary school could nominate eight students for each group. In the Heat Event, contestants are required to complete a 90-minute written test which includes multiple choice questions and fill in the blanks, etc. In the Final Event, they will take a practical test in which they are required to complete a problem-solving programming task and submit relevant files within a limited time.
